Proponents of tenure argue that it protects teachers from being fired for personal or political reasons, and prevents the firing of experienced You must have been employed as a full-time teacher at an eligible school for five complete and consecutive academic years, and at least one of those years must have been after the 1997–98 academic year. Certain highly qualified special education and secondary mathematics or science teachers can qualify for up to $17,500 in forgiveness. Other eligible teachers can qualify for up to $5,000. As such, many 10-year-old children can be pleasant company at dinner and at social gatherings, capable of expressing their thoughts on current events, books, music, art, and other subjects. For many children, the development phase around 10 years old is packed with learning and rapid-paced cognitive growth.

Instead of making layoff decisions on the basis of tenure status or seniority, 12 states require that teacher performance be the primary consideration. Ten states explicitly prohibit the use of tenure status or seniority. This tenure reform reduced the probationary period a teacher worked to achieve tenure to 97 days instead of a year. During those 97 days, a teacher could be fired without just cause. The results of this tenure reform do not seem to be making any major improvements in Florida's tenure system. New York’s Mayor Bloomberg announced that, beginning this year, only teachers rated “effective” or “highly effective” will be eligible for tenure. Last year, DC Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee negotiated a controversial union contract that weakened teacher tenure in favor of higher salaries and bonuses upfront. The expression you are looking for is tenure, not ten year. It is an effort to secure academic freedom for teachers or professors, so that they can't be fired for doing work which is out of favor with the administration.
